There were few initial indications that Kubernetes would become the technology standard for container orchestration that it is today. As an open-source product backed by Google’s resources and community, Kubernetes entered the market as an easily accessible and authoritative tool. The rise of Kubernetes came at a fortuitous time for organizations grappling with DevOps transformations and enterprise-wide CI/CD optimization, and the once-groundbreaking tool is now commonplace across the CI/CD lifecycle.
In light of the prominence and growing necessity of Kubernetes in any discussion of CI/CD processes, we examine the present and future state of both Kubernetes and CI/CD individually and together as cooperative and opposing entities.
